Description

Position Title:  Truck Driver 

Reports To: Production Manager


General Summary: This position is responsible for safely operating a commercial vehicle for local deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient transportation of goods while adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The driver will maintain a high level of customer service and compliance with safety standards while making daily runs within Defiance and local areas.


Essential Job Functions:

Local Deliveries & Transportation:

  • Operate a commercial vehicle for local routes only, ensuring on-time deliveries.
  • Load, transport, and unload goods as needed, ensuring product integrity.
  • Follow assigned schedules and routes while adapting to traffic or weather conditions.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Maintain DOT compliance by keeping accurate logs, performing vehicle inspections, and adhering to hours-of-service regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local DOT and company safety regulations.

Customer Service & Communication:

  • Interact professionally with customers, vendors, and team members.
  • Provide delivery confirmations and report any issues or delays promptly.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records and necessary documentation.

Vehicle Maintenance & Reporting:

  • Ensure that the assigned truck is clean, well-maintained, and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Report mechanical problems or repair needs to the appropriate department.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) – Class A  with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience driving commercial vehicles (local routes preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, local traffic laws, and safety standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. as required for loading/unloading.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
