Summary:
This internship supports the Foundations Team by conducting research on prospective funders, analyzing alignment and giving priorities, and assisting with grant prospecting efforts. Interns also help prepare proposal materials, track deadlines, and support the development of strong, data-informed funding submissions.
Location: US/Remote
Internship Responsibilities:
- Conduct funder research and produce short, clear briefs (priorities, giving history, fit with IYF, recommended entry strategy). Vet and research open calls.
- Support prospecting by identifying targets, mapping potential warm introductions, and preparing outreach and meeting prep materials.
- Assist with proposal development by compiling inputs, checking compliance requirements, and helping format and package drafts for review.
Requirements
Internship Requirements (Undergraduate or Graduate Students)
- Currently enrolled as a university undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Public Policy, Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Political Science, or related disciplines).
- Strong desk research skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise briefs.
- Ability to analyze funder priorities, giving history, and strategic alignment
- Excellent written communication skills, with attention to clarity, structure, and accuracy.
- Ability to draft summaries, briefing notes, and proposal support materials for internal review.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail, especially when tracking deadlines, compliance requirements, and multiple prospects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage tasks independently and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Word/Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides).
- Comfort working with online research tools, databases, and shared document platforms.
- Interest in philanthropy, foundations, and nonprofit fundraising.
- Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
- Collaborative, proactive, and willing to learn in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Availability
- Ability to commit 20 to 30 hours per week for the duration of the internship (schedule flexible based on academic commitments).
- Must be during one of the following time periods:
- June 1 - July 17
- June 15 - July 31
- July 13 - August 21
