Description

 

The individual will work as part of the Capital Markets team focusing on new syndication efforts which include creating marketing materials, working on legal grids and documentation, tracking syndication progress, and diligence information distribution. The individual will also assist in evaluating, structuring and executing senior debt transactions, for both buy-side and sell-side opportunities as well as serve as a key market intelligence source for the team.


Monroe is seeking someone with an understanding of the leveraged finance market (investment banking experience) with a great working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.


Key Responsibility by Functional Area:


Syndications:

  • Work with deal team to create syndication marketing materials and due diligence packages
  • Support Capital Markets with deal execution, as one of the points of contact for capital markets, communicating with deal team members and clients; including, corporate executives, private equity clients, bank investors and other private credit partners
  • Collect market feedback by vetting proposed transactions with prospective lenders
  • Together with Capital Markets team members, act as point of contact for the market on any deal syndications regarding diligence, deal syndication, execution and closing
  • Manage deal data sites and bank group administration

Market Intelligence:

  • Maintain general awareness and knowledge of up-to-date market information (transactions, changes in transactions, key terms and key players)
  • Assist in creating weekly, monthly and quarterly capital markets updates for internal firmwide distributions and external market updates to Monroe’s current and prospective investors
  • Maintain new loan issuance databases

Origination/Sourcing:

  • Backup/support point of contact for the market on buy-side investment opportunities
  • Processing and facilitating Non-Disclosure Agreements

Structuring:

  • Support Capital Markets team as point of contact for the credit committee approval process, including capital markets due diligence, comparable transactions, structural/credit documentation analysis, and syndication analysis to help determine suitable and marketable deal capital structure
  • Work with originations/underwriting teams to review and draft indicative term sheets and deal proposals

Other:

  • Open to being a utility player to assist in the growth and development of growing platform
  • Strong team player with willingness to pitch in where necessary
Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and ideally 2-4 years in a banking, finance, credit, or capital markets position
  • Strong corporate finance skills
  • Experience generating marketing materials
  • Highly motivated with ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability/comfort interacting directly with lenders and financial sponsors, professional advisors
  • Familiarity of the leveraged loan market a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Stationary Work: Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer work, phone communication, and administrative tasks.
  • Movement: Occasionally moves about the office to access files, supplies, meeting rooms, or other work areas.
  • Reaching/Positioning: Occasionally positions self to access shelves, organize materials, or retrieve office supplies.
  • Computer and Equipment Use: Regularly operates a computer and other standard office productivity equipment (e.g., phone, printer, copier).
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through electronic methods as required to perform essential job duties.

Compensation:

It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $100,000-130,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department / team performance and market factors.
