Position Summary

The Regional Director of Operations, reporting to the VP of Home Health Operations, is responsible for the overall fiscal, clinical, and operational performance of the skilled home health division within an assigned region. This role ensures high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and organizational effectiveness. The Regional Director provides leadership, oversight, and mentorship to Agency Administrators and Clinical Managers, ensuring agencies are appropriately staffed, survey-ready, and aligned with company standards and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Clinical Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight of daily operations for assigned branch locations, ensuring efficient, high-quality delivery of home health services.
  • Strengthen clinical quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure all branch locations are continuously survey-ready, including oversight of emergency preparedness and activation of emergency plans.
  • Maintain clinical competency and serve as a clinical resource to staff; perform skilled visits as needed if licensed.

Quality, Compliance & Performance Improvement

  • Collaborate with the VP of Operations and QAPI department to maintain QAPI, STAR, and VBP performance above industry benchmarks.
  • Initiate and oversee Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) as needed to meet organizational and regulatory standards.
  • In collaboration with the VP of Operations and Chief Compliance Officer, ensure compliance through audits, surveys, deficiency corrections, and quarterly compliance activities.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all privacy regulations related to protected health information (PHI).

Financial & Strategic Oversight

  • Partner with the VP of Operations and CFO to monitor productivity, episode management, and financial performance.
  • Ensure branches meet established targets for revenue growth, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Monitor operational indicators impacting staffing, quality, revenues, and expenses, and implement corrective strategies as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Executive Team in strategic planning, coordination meetings, and ad hoc committees.

Leadership, Staffing & Development

  • Mentor, evaluate, and support Agency Administrators and Clinical Managers in leadership, operational, and clinical performance.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support recruitment, retention, employee engagement, and staff satisfaction.
  • Identify training, development, and continuing education needs for management, administrative, and clinical staff.
  • Ensure all staff meet regulatory, policy, and education requirements, including orientation, in-service training, and continuing education.
  • Ensure a qualified alternate is available during operating hours in the absence of agency leadership.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Communicate and cascade operational updates, policy changes, and procedural updates in a timely and effective manner.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal communication channels across the organization.
  • Foster professional relationships with governing agencies, referral sources, healthcare providers, community partners, and educational institutions.
  • Promote a culture of customer service, professionalism, accountability, and collaboration.

Growth & Market Engagement

  • Support referral development and promote home health services within the healthcare community.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales & Marketing and Regional Sales leadership to ensure clinical capacity aligns with sales initiatives and growth strategies.
  • Evaluate services and programs and recommend modifications to enhance organizational performance and growth.

Employee & Customer Relations

  • Ensure employee and customer concerns or complaints are investigated, addressed, and resolved promptly.
  • Provide feedback and corrective action plans to senior leadership, including the VP of Operations, CCO, CEO, and CFO as appropriate.
Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of home health care management experience.
  • At least 2 years of multi-site health leadership experience preferred.

Skills

  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate professional and administrative staff.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and manage financial reports.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure required.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active RN license in states of company operation.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Reliable transportation and current auto liability insurance.
  • Completion of Texas-specific administrative training (TAC 97.259 / 97.260) or willingness to complete upon hire.
