Join our team! We are hiring for a 3rd Shift Supervisor in our Burlington, WI facility. The Shift Supervisor serves as the lead operational supervisor on the assigned shift, providing leadership and direction to Department Supervisors overseeing Assembly, Conventional, Injection, and other production areas. In addition to leading other supervisors, this role also directly manages one production department, ensuring consistent operational standards and accountability across the shift. The Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating shift-wide activities, driving performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, employee development, and maintaining alignment across departments.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead the safety culture across the shift; ensure supervisors enforce safe work practices and PPE usage.
- Ensure timely incident and near-miss reporting; lead/oversee investigations using root-cause methods (e.g., 5-Why); implement and verify corrective actions.
- Conduct safety audits and risk assessments; address hazards promptly and follow up to closure.
Leadership of Supervisors & Workforce Management
- Provide daily leadership, coaching, and direction to Department Supervisors; align priorities across departments.
- Directly supervise one department, ensuring execution, engagement, and performance meet targets.
- Own shift staffing plans, cross-training, and labor utilization; ensure consistent policy application and performance management.
Shift Coordination & Production Execution
- Lead shift-wide execution of production schedules; manage bottlenecks and coordinate shared resources.
- Ensure accurate production/timekeeping records and KPI visibility for all departments on the shift.
Quality Assurance & Process Control
- Conduct Layered Process Audits to confirm standard adherence, identify gaps, and escalate findings to drive corrective actions.
- Lead/oversee CAR investigations and deploy error-proofing and process controls to reduce defects and variation.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing
- Lead multi-department CI initiatives (5S, Kaizen, SMED, TPM); coach supervisors in structured problem solving.
- Identify and implement efficiency improvements that reduce waste, downtime, and cost while improving OEE.
- Conduct daily Gemba walks to validate standards, remove barriers, and coach problem-solving.
- Lead weekly project walks to assess project status, ensure adequate project pipeline development, verify accountability for action items, and escalate barriers to drive timely resolution.
Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Facilitate T1 and T2 meetings and effective shift handoffs; ensure supervisors communicate expectations and priorities.
- Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Scheduling, Procurement, and HR to resolve issues and support goals.
Data-Driven Decision Making & Business Alignment
- Review KPIs (e.g., OEE, scrap, downtime, labor) and drive corrective actions informed by data.
- Connect improvement activities to business objectives, support cost control and waste reduction.
Requirements:
- 3+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- Experience leading other supervisors preferred.
- Able to become an authorized to drive company vehicles or to drive own vehicle for company business as required during the shift.
- Experience in an industrial setting working with operations, maintenance, quality and planning functions
- Experience executing projects on a timeline
- Lean/continuous improvement experience.
- Proficiency with MS Office and ERP/MRP systems; comfort with KPI dashboards and basic analysis.
- Strong communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in a union environment (preferred)
