Description
- Greet patients warmly in both English and Spanish, creating a welcoming atmosphere upon arrival
- Greet patients and visitors, check patients in and out, and obtain necessary documentation. Verify and enter demographic information.
- Obtain and verify insurance authorizations/precertification. Complete medical record release requests and schedule/confirm patient appointments.
- Enter, review and submit charges for patient procedures and services daily. Collect co-payments and reconcile all daily reports and deposits for accuracy.
- Provide general office and clerical support to assigned area
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and complete insurance verifications using systems like Availity
- Schedule appointments efficiently using medical scheduling software and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Collect patient information accurately, review medical records, and update electronic health records (EHR) systems such as SIS
- Coordinate with provider's offices to obtain necessary documentation to performed procedures.
- Support medical billing processes by confirming the codes for procedures using CPT codes and ICD-10/ICD-9 diagnosis codes; ensure accurate documentation review for billing compliance; working with the ASC Administrator to confirm
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies to support smooth clinic operations
- Verify insurance benefits for Medicare and other payers; assist with intake procedures and patient check-in/out processes
- Demonstrate excellent phone etiquette while managing appointment reminders and patient inquiries professionally
Experience
Requirements
- Proven clinic or medical office experience working in a front desk or administrative support role within a healthcare setting
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as SIS & eClinicalWorks
- Knowledge of medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently and professionally
- Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized files in a fast-paced environment
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
