The Central Lincoln County YMCA is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Development to lead and elevate all fundraising efforts in support of our mission. This is a high-impact leadership role for a seasoned development professional who brings a proven track record of securing major gifts, growing donor networks, and executing successful multi-channel fundraising campaigns.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and relationship builder who thrives on connecting donors, businesses, and community partners to meaningful philanthropic opportunities. They will drive the design and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual giving, major gifts, capital campaigns, and planned giving, while supporting special events.
This role requires a confident leader who can steward donor relationships with authenticity and professionalism, and translate data and insights into actionable fundraising plans. Strong financial acumen and experience managing development budgets, tracking performance, and ensuring accountability are essential.

Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit to strengthen the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with the CEO and Directors to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development. Serves as a role model for staff, participants, and the community.
- Collaborates with the CEO on strategic planning to create and leads staff and volunteers in the creation/execution of campaigns, programs, and/or curriculum for the advancement of the YMCA.
- Provides the highest level of customer service while ensuring safety, licensing requirements, and the YMCAs reputation. Serves on committees and task forces. Adheres to all policies and standards.
- Works with the CEO and Finance department to develop and implement financial and organizational strategies, procedures, and responsible budgets. Provides monthly feedback for any material budget variances. Manages grants and deliverables.
- Leads and trains board members, directors, and volunteers in YMCA fundraising efforts, including the annual fundraisers to support mission-based programs and applying for grant opportunities.
- Designs and implements fundraising strategies, including developing marketing materials to promote campaigns and distribute as appropriate. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits gift prospects. Executes plan, including mail and email appeals and donor communications.
- Collaborates with directors to ensure coordinated efforts and fulfillment of promises to donors.
- Supports directors with managing special events and departmental fund raisers.
- Leads staff and/or volunteer recruitment, communication, development, and management with fundraising activities.
- Proactively builds effective, authentic relationships with staff, volunteers, participants, and community partners and connects them to the YMCA. Establishes and nurtures donor relationships, focusing on major and mid-level donors and corporate sponsorships.
- Partners with staff and volunteers to ensure operations are safe and clean at all times.
- Manages financial aspects of fundraising, including soliciting, receiving, logging, & reconciling gifts.
- As a Mandated Reporter, recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and reports to supervisor and the appropriate authorities.

- The campus facility is open early mornings, evenings, and weekends and the job may require attendance outside of regular business hours (9am – 5pm).

Essential Experience and Skill Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in a related field.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Team player, with superb interpersonal skills. An ability to partner with co-workers and work with the public in a positive and friendly manner and resolve conflicts as needed.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task, lead others, work independently, and adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
- General computer skills with the ability to effectively learn and use new software.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record with access to personal vehicle preferred.
Essential Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or the equivalent in education and closely related work experience.
