Primary purpose:  

Contributes to the design, development, and operation of secure data integrations between internal Azure-hosted healthcare platforms and external partners. Focuses on building reliable, auditable data exchanges across batch files, APIs, and event-driven patterns while ensuring data quality, traceability, and compliance in a regulated environment (PHI/PII, FedRAMP Moderate, NIST 800-53).


A successful candidate will do the following:

  • Use Azure-native services (including API Management, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, and Key Vault) to assist with the design and implementation of inbound and outbound integrations
  • Support the build and maintenance of batch-based file exchanges (SFTP/MFT), including scheduling, file-naming conventions, schema validation, encryption/signing (PGP), and delivery acknowledgements
  • Develop API-based integrations, including REST endpoints, contract-first design (OpenAPI), versioning, and support for partner onboarding 
  • Create and maintain mapping specifications and transformation logic (JSON, XML, CSV, EDI) supporting partner-specific layouts and canonical models
  • Contribute to validation frameworks, error reporting, and interface runbooks to improve data quality and operational support
  • Use Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and dashboards to configure monitoring and alerting for interface health and SLA reporting
  • Participate in incident response, root-cause analysis, and post-incident improvements for integration issues
  • Implement secure connectivity patterns, manage secrets and certificates, and follow compliance standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to define interface contracts, exchange schedules, retry/reconciliation processes, and deployment plans
  • Support CI/CD pipeline development, infrastructure as code (with Bicep), and automation initiatives under guidance from senior engineers
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience in building and supporting enterprise system integrations (preferably in healthcare)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure services: Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Service Bus, Event Grid, Storage, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Application Insights
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET or Python
  • Experience with batch and file-based exchange patterns: SFTP/MFT, file manifests, control totals, retries, and reconciliation
  • Experience with data transformation and parsing with formats like CSV, JSON, XML, or EDI
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, validating loads, and troubleshooting integration-related data issues
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (and associated elements such as PHI/PII, principles of HIPAA) and secure engineering practices (audit logging, access controls)
  • Ability to produce clear interface documentation, including mapping specs, runbooks, operational procedures, and partner-onboarding guides


Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare data exchange with standards such as X12 (270/271, 276/277, 834, 835), HL7 v2, FHIR, NCPDP, or custom provider roster/network files
  • Experience migrating legacy SFTP/MFT patterns to Azure-native designs
  • Experience with data-orchestration tools (Azure Data Factory, SSIS) in hybrid modernization scenarios
  • Experience implementing message idempotency, exactly-once processing strategies, and replay-safe processing patterns
  • Familiarity with FedRAMP Moderate/NIST 800-53 compliance practices
  • Experience with Purview or data-governance concepts (lineage, classification, retention)
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate
  • Scripting experience with PowerShell/Bash 
  • Experience with React for building modern web applications

Salary Description
$75,000 - $95,000
