JOB TITLE: Head Teller

DEPARTMENT:  Retail Banking

REPORTS TO:  Retail Banking Manager 

HOURS:  Full time including 1-2 Saturdays a month

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt 

Pay: $27.00 - $35.00


POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees all Teller operations at assigned branch(s) including scheduling, supervising, and providing work direction to Tellers to assure customers are provided with accurate information and courteous, efficient service. Responsible for bank vault and cash funds.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures that all Tellers are consistently meeting customer service procedures/standards. Holds Tellers accountable for these expectations on an ongoing basis. Responsible for new teller training including follow up once training is complete. 
  2. Supervises and schedules teller operations to assure sufficient staff during Bank's service hours. Supervise, complete performance, and salary reviews for teller staff, including hiring and termination recommendations. Assists tellers in reconciling errors as needed.
  3. Maintains a teller drawer and rotates vault duties with other staff. Is accurate in balancing cash and teller reporting. 
  4. Assists Retail Banking Manager with updating and developing policies, manuals and disseminates new/revised policies and procedures relative to teller operations to staff.       
  5. Communicates effectively with supervisor, manager, and co-workers. Follows through with all communications in a timely manner. 
  6. Effectively convey existing bank goals and encourage staff to sell banking products beneficial to the customer, including personal and bank money orders, cash advances, VISA gift cards, savings bonds, etc. Encourage staff to cross sell and/or refer to appropriate personnel. 

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

1. Provides specific performance feedback, positive and corrective, as soon as possible after the event and formally at least once a year. Deals firmly and promptly with performance problems and employee relation issues. 

2. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements

 Education 

  • High school diploma or general education degree 
  • Associates degree preferred

Experience

  • 4-5 years related cash handling experience and/or training
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred supervisory experience
