Role Summary
The Power Systems Specialist provides dependable, hands-on technical expertise across IBM Power Systems environments. This role independently delivers overnight administration, monitoring, incident response/triage, and technical support with a strong sense of ownership and follow-through. The consultant contributes to a consistent, high-quality service experience by applying subject-matter knowledge, solving problems with limited supervision, and supporting internal standards and procedures within the Power Systems Professional Services team.
Core Accountabilities
Technical Delivery & Support
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource on IBM Power Systems solutions and related storage technologies.
- Perform IBM i daily checks, problem triage, PTF updates, and routine system administration.
- Manage and troubleshoot environments involving HMC, VIOS, and SAN storage.
- Support CL programming needs and assist with replication technologies such as Power HA (when applicable).
- Review client environments to identify opportunities that align with Power Systems offerings.
- Perform other help-desk tasks within employee’s skillset.
Client & Team Collaboration
- Act as a trusted technical contact for clients, communicating clearly and professionally throughout engagements.
- Contribute to a cohesive team environment by collaborating with peers across Koltiv.
- Provide insight and feedback that strengthens solution delivery and client outcomes.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Obtain and maintain required IBM and vendor certifications for the Power Systems Division (within 90 days of hire when applicable).
- Follow established procedures for documentation, change management, and quality standards.
Operational Reliability
- Participate in the on-call rotation to support after-hours and weekend client needs.
- Respond to issues with urgency, accuracy, and a strong sense of responsibility.
General
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems.
- Strong system administration capabilities, including upgrades and migrations.
- Experience delivering technical work in fast-paced environments with competing priorities.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
- Fully remote, overnight shift (availability aligned to overnight support hours) on-call availability on some weekends

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with RPG development.
- Knowledge of Query and SQL on IBM Power Systems (AS/400).
- Familiarity with IBM Power HA full system replication.
- Familiarity with Cybernetics VTL.
- Experience with ConnectWise Manage.
