The ideal candidate will have solid MIG and TIG welding experience and enjoy variety. 


Job Summary

Set-up and finish weld a wide variety of weldments with various processes and equipment, including robotic/semi-automatic manufacturing cells.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fit, align and weld or tack weld metal parts together following welding procedure specifications.
  • Use jigs and holding fixtures where available to location and position pieces and materials.
  • Efficiently produce quality welds.
  • Inspects completed welds for defects and measures workpieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Perform or assist with post weld cleanup, inspection and repair.
  • Perform setup in robotic/ semi-automatic welding equipment and make offsets, alignment, and parameter changes as needed to meet weld quality requirements.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in a combination of work and vocational training.
  • Proficient with GMAW (MIG) & GTAW (TIG). Experience/understanding of Plasma, Sub-Arc, Resistance/Projection, and/or Laser welding a plus.
  • Education – H.S. Diploma or GED. Technical Diploma or Certificate in Welding preferred, but not required.
  • Able to read and interpret prints, drawings, and specifications.

Physical Demands

  • The ability to stand and walk on concrete for up to 8 hours per day. Operator stands on a padded platform for approximately 45 minutes of each hour and stands or walks on concrete for approximately 15 minutes of each hour.
  • The ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds between floor level and a height of five feet.
  • The ability to bend and lift up to 50 pounds between floor level and a height of six feet five inches.
  • The ability to pull or push up to 1,150 pounds with the assistance of a cart with wheels.
  • Manual Dexterity: The ability to use hands to manipulate objects (i.e. set stops, etc.).
  • Quality Assurance: The ability to perform visual inspection of material quality, surface condition, machine caused flaws and blank dimensions to ensure quality standards.
