Walters Gardens, Inc. has been a leading grower of perennial plants since 1946. We pride ourselves on superior product quality, an extensive product assortment, and a customer-first mindset. We are currently seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented Shipping & Receiving Coordinator to support our cold storage and outbound logistics operations.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring product is accurately staged, handled, and shipped according to customer requirements and internal standards. Walters Gardens strongly emphasizes teamwork and cross-training. Successful candidates must be flexible, dependable, and committed to supporting a fast-paced shipping and receiving operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize, stage, and verify product for outbound shipments, including proper placement in designated cooler and freezer locations
- Prepare and stage orders for shipping to meet customer timelines and requirements
- Create Bills of Lading (BOLs) for outgoing product
- Load trucks with orders scheduled for shipment and unload inbound product from semi-trucks
- Coordinate outbound shipments with shipping material handlers and carriers
- Coordinate with Customer Care regarding order issues, updates, or customer-specific requirements
- Stock product in coolers and freezers and restock inventory as needed
- Read reports and shipping schedules to determine upcoming workload and priorities
- Communicate product shortages or inventory concerns promptly with co-workers and supervisors
- Maintain organization and accuracy throughout shipping and receiving processes
- Safely operate vehicles while switching trailers between Walters Gardens locations and making trips to the Field to pick up Bare Root product as needed.
Schedule and Work Environment
- Full-time position with required overtime during peak season
- Occasional evening hours may be required based on shipping schedules
- Work is performed in coolers and freezers (approximately 25-35 degrees)
Qualifications and Requirements
- CDL required or willingness to obtain a CDL
- Ability to safely operate a hi-lo (forklift) and accurately use an RF gun
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with multiple departments
- Willingness to cross-train and work in a variety of roles as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and be on feet for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to bend, twist, push, and pull throughout the workday
- Ability to work indoors, outdoors, and in temperature-controlled environments
