Position Summary

The Armed Security Officer must respond to routine, unusual, and emergency situations in accordance with established post orders, client directives, and applicable use-of-force protocols, applying the appropriate level of escalation up to and including armed response when circumstances warrant. Duties include enforcing site regulations, maintaining order, supporting life-safety measures, and ensuring compliance with security procedures governing personnel, visitors, and facility operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Control access to the facility through established screening and admittance procedures
  • Verify credentials and screen visitors, employees, and contractors using applicable equipment
  • Prevent unauthorized access, theft, damage, or security violations involving client property and assets
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and interior/exterior areas to ensure site security and prevents, delays, and /or detains persons attempting to bring prohibited or unlawful items into the facility. 
  • May direct traffic (vehicles and/ or pedestrians, control parking, and observe environment for suspicious vehicles or persons. 
  • Respond promptly to routine, unusual, life threatening and/or emergency situations in accordance with post orders and site protocols
  • When necessary, may be required to apprehend or detain individuals 
  • Apply appropriate escalation of force, up to and including armed response, when required by policy and circumstances
  • Conduct foot or vehicle patrols and identify hazards, unsecured areas, or suspicious activity
  • Prepare accurate daily activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation
  • Provide professional customer service while enforcing all security regulations
  • Must be able to run, walk, stand, sit for long periods of time; lift, carry, drag, pull , push. 
  • Any other duties as assigned. 


Requirements

Experience

  •  Minimum of 2 years of armed security experience within the past five years OR
  •  Minimum of 1 year of law enforcement experience in full-duty status with a full-service police department within the US, with a good standing resignation or retirement OR
  •  Minimum of 2 years of honorable service as a member of any US Armed Forces, National Guard, or Reserve service.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  •  Minimum age requirement: 21 years
  •  US citizenship or lawful permanent residency for current members of the U.S. Armed Services or individuals with an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Military
  •  Must be able to obtain the applicable background clearance 
  •  Must possess valid State of Hawaii Guard Card
  •  Proficiency with firearms
  •  Ability to obtain favorable verification through the E-Verify system
  •  Fluent in spoken, written, and comprehended English
  •  Possession of a current State-issued Driver’s License
  •  Strong conflict de-escalation and problem-solving ability
  •  Professional demeanor and appearance; Ability to retain composure while interacting with difficult individuals
  •  Ability to de-escalate situations involving conflict, challenging individuals, or crisis incidents. 
  •  Ability to remain alert and respond effectively in high-pressure situations
  •  Ability to enforce security rules, post orders, and site directives professionally and consistently
  •  Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  •  Team-oriented and safety-conscious
  •  High level of ethics and integrity

Background Requirements

  • Must be able to undergo government background check and successfully maintain applicable security clearance. 

Other Requirements

  •  Successful completion of Medical/Physical examination and Drug testing with favorable results
  •  Successful completion of New Hire Academy training 
  •  Successful passing of firearms qualifications.

 Physical/Mental Requirements and Working Environment

Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of up to 10 -12 hours per day
  • May be required to perform stressful physical activity such as running, sprinting, climbing
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push up to 50 lbs. 
  •  Work outdoors in various weather conditions
  •  Work extended shifts and overtime when necessary.
