Position Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Field Engineer with a specialization in switchgear testing and protection systems. This role leads the configuration, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage systems, including complex paralleling and PLC/HMI-based control systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring system integrity, supporting field personnel, and training customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Vice President of Systems Integration.
- Create, modify, and approve AutoCAD drawings for system and retrofit designs.
- Modify generator and switchgear controllers and associated wiring.
- Execute complex paralleling switchgear retrofits with and without PLC controls.
- Configure and program protection relays (e.g., SEL, Basler, GE Multilin).
- Develop and modify PLC and HMI programming for automation systems.
- Coordinate with site teams and maintain communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support Building Management System (BMS) integration as needed.
- Deliver customer training on advanced system operation and troubleshooting.
- Provide remote support to Field Engineers and Switchgear Technicians.
Qualifications
- Understanding of NETA testing processes and documentation strongly preferred.
- Extensive field experience with low- and medium-voltage switchgear inspection and commissioning.
- Expertise in paralleling switchgear, PLC logic, protection relays, and control systems required.
- Ability to develop and troubleshoot PLC/HMI-based applications in the field.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and electrical system schematics.
- Associate’s degree in Instrumentation Technology (or equivalent); Engineering degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or 5 years with an engineering degree.
- Strong communication, mentoring, and documentation skills.
- Demonstrated integrity, safety awareness, and customer-first attitude.
