What does the job pay?

Starting pay is $16.00 per hour.

What are the requirements and skills needed for this job?

Availability:

We are hiring a baker to work 40 hours a week during the hours of 4 pm and midnight. We work on weekends and holidays. We require full availability in October, November and December. (We don't take any extra time off during these months.) Education, baking experience or training in the culinary field is preferred but not required. We are looking for someone who is passionate about baking as a long-term career.

Physical Requirements:

We require the ability to stand, lift and bend for up to 8-hours, with breaks; the ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and the ability to work with repetitive motion including fine manipulation of hands and fingers.

What kinds of things do you do in this job?
Our pastry baking team does a variety of essential tasks. A few examples are:

• Measuring ingredients to make our Sour Cream Coffee Cake 
• Packaging and labeling our Ginger Jump Up Cookies
• Weighing batter into pans for our Magic Brownies
• Washing and chopping apples for our apple pies
• Rolling our Cinnful Cinnamon Rolls
• Sorting our croissants for our many, wonderful wholesale customers

Zingerman's Bakehouse is a wholesale bakery, retail shop, and baking school for home bakers. We sell to specialty food stores, cafés and restaurants in southeastern Michigan as well as selling to Zingerman's Mail Order, who ships our baked goods everywhere in the United States. We are dedicated bakers and food lovers committed to making and selling the best breads, pastries and cakes we can imagine. We are real artisan bakers, meaning we use traditional methods and flavorful ingredients to make our food.
