JOB SUMMARY

The Budget Senior Manager oversees all activities related to the development and administration of comprehensive budgets for phase I-IV global clinical trials, supporting RFPs and contracts.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop high-quality, competitive global full-service budgets for phase I-IV clinical trials to support RFPs and contracts.
  • Represent the company at sponsor meetings to review and negotiate budgets.
  • Direct the entire budget development process from RFP to contract signature, engaging cross-functional stakeholders for input, approval, and finalization.
  • Collaborate closely with proposal writers and contract managers to ensure alignment between budget, text, and contract terms.
  • Identify delays, assess barriers to progress, and implement efficient solutions and corrective action as needed.
  • Mentor and train new and/or junior team members.
  • Spearhead team initiatives that support the team in efficiencies and knowledge
  • Perform QCs for team members on internal and final client facing deliverables for complex budgets and contracts.
  • Assist with making updates to budget tool as assigned. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

TRAVELING

Between home office and corporate New Jersey office, as needed. Approximately 5% travel as required.


Salary Range: $120,000–$135,000 annually. Final compensation is based on skills, experience, location, and overall expertise.  

Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Science, or related field and a minimum of five years’ experience in developing and managing global full-service budgets for phase I-IV clinical trials. Experience in CNS is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of complex operational aspects pertaining to Phase I-IV clinical research, particularly within a Contract Research Organization offering global full services, is essential.
  • Proven capability to interpret protocol requirements, operational strategy, and RFP information into effective pricing models.
  • Exceptional working knowledge of clinical trial cost drivers (per-patient fees, site costs, pass-throughs, timelines, resourcing assumptions) and budget structures supporting contracts and sponsor negotiations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to QC and validate complex budgets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, experience with mapping client bid grids and utilizing complex formulas, as well as robust financial acumen, is necessary.
  • Advanced Proficiency in SharePoint and other Microsoft Suite products, including Copilot. 
  • Outstanding leadership and teamwork skills, exceptional critical thinking skills, and ability to work independently/self-starter.
  • Strong customer service orientation, and the ability to thrive under pressure while collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders at all management levels.
  • Demonstrated capacity to forge and sustain productive internal and external relationships through influential communication.
