Qualifications and Skills:

Hyde Park Schools seeks to hire a Government and Personal Financial Literacy teacher. Teachers are expected to have a strong faith background and to use their professional skills as an educator to incorporate a biblical worldview in classroom instruction in order to encourage students to reach their God-given potential. Highly qualified candidates will have at least a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field. A masters degree in the desired subject area is preferred, but not required. A Texas state issued teacher certification in Social Studies (8-12) composite and prior teaching experience is strongly preferred. Salary is based on a scale and is commensurate with your experience. 

Requirements
  • Spiritually prepare to serve students and families.
  • Attend weekly chapels services, small group meetings, or other school related activities
  • Serve as GoWeek team leaders 
  • Fully engage and participate in authentic collaborative professional meetings, take initiative to think and learn at high cognitive levels for the benefit of students.
  • Create, design, implement, and adjust lessons that align with the “HP Classroom” expectations 
  • Regularly interact with students, parents, faculty, and administrators 
  • Maximize strong interpersonal competency and build trust and rapport. 
  • Identify and address learning needs of all students.
  • Provide daily or weekly academic assistance to students who need additional support
  • Participate in team learning, grade-level, and department meetings.
  • Use assessment data and document student progress and achievement; assess and analyze student strengths and needs; design and implement appropriate instruction to facilitate learning and growth. 
  • Assist parents by providing academic information; suggest available educational and social resources; address parents’ concerns
  • Attend outside workshops and utilizes professional development resources (publications, memberships, etc) to grow professionally
  • Maintain safe and clean working environments by complying with HP Employee Handbook
  • Adhere to strict student confidentiality to support students academic and mental health 
  • Other duties as assigned (Graduation, Project Graduation, Prom, HOCO, etc)
