The Counter Sales Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing sales transactions, and supporting customers with product selection and technical assistance at the sales counter. This role serves as a key point of contact for walk-in customers, contractors, and commercial clients, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and a positive customer experience. The Counter Sales Representative supports store operations while contributing to revenue growth and inventory accuracy.


Key Responsibilities:


· Provide prompt, professional customer service.

· Assist with product selection, technical questions, and recommendations.

· Process sales transactions, including invoices, payments, returns, and orders.

· Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment (walk-in and phone).

· Maintain strong product knowledge.

· Support inventory by stocking, monitoring levels, and receiving shipments.

· Keep the store clean, organized, and customer-ready.

· Build customer relationships to drive repeat business.

· Mix automotive and industrial paints accurately.

· Learn color matching, tinting, and custom formulas.

· Crosstrain at the counter to assist with orders and inquiries.

· Prepare and stage orders for delivery.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in retail, counter sales, customer service, or a similar role preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn product knowledge and technical information related to automotive and industrial coatings.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to accurately process transactions and handle payments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift and move products up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and point-of-sale systems preferred.
