Maintenance Mechanic
Description

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical/Mechanical Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical maintenance within a dry rice packaging facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and effective communication skills.

This position reports directly to the Production Manager and is based in Cypress, CA.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspect, maintain, and repair packaging machinery such as automated case packers, conveyors, bagging machines, weighers, robotic palletizers, and sealing equipment.

- Troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.

- Diagnose electrical problems using testing devices and repair techniques.

- Interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints to troubleshoot complex issues.

- Set up and change over packaging lines to accommodate different rice products, package sizes, or production orders.

- Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment (such as multi-meters) to perform maintenance and repairs.

- Participate in equipment installations and assist with training operators on new machinery

- Collaborate with plant engineers, operators, and quality teams to improve equipment reliability and performance.

- Comply fully with plant safety policies, food safety standards (GMP), and environmental regulations always.

- Monitor production lines, observe machine operation, and report or correct any mechanical faults or safety concerns.

- Document maintenance activities accurately and update equipment logs and records as required


Requirements


- Proven mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining industrial or packaging equipment, preferably in a food processing environment

- Understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting (experience with industrial robots is a plus)

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

- Knowledge of food safety and manufacturing best practices (GMP, SOPs).

- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in maintenance or mechanics preferred

- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.

- Knowledge of PLC programming will be an added advantage


Physical Requirements:

physical activity, including standing and walking for long periods, climbing ladders, and working in tight or elevated spaces. The job involves lifting and carrying materials (typically up to 50 pounds), using tools with good hand coordination, and performing repetitive movements. Employees must have adequate vision and hearing to read equipment gauges and identify mechanical issues, often in noisy environments. Work conditions may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, and moving machinery, and the use of protective equipment is required.
