POSITION SUMMARY
The Seco Slitter is responsible for operating slitting, leveling, and shearing equipment to process material according to production schedules and customer specifications. This role supports material handling, production efficiency, quality control, and equipment maintenance while ensuring safe and efficient manufacturing operations.


THIS IS A 3RD SHIFT POSITION


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
• Set up slitter equipment to required specifications using basic conversion math skills
• Run material through slitting equipment and coil or stack finished material according to order requirements
• Deliver processed material to the appropriate operation based on production specifications
• Set and operate leveling equipment to process orders and in-process material to required customer specifications
• Shear material according to production requirements and customer specifications
• Use lift equipment to safely move and position materials as necessary
• Follow all prescribed safety rules, procedures, and quality standards
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including ensuring knives, spacers, and fingers are in proper working condition
• Notify Supervisors or Group Leaders in advance when slitter pads or knives require replacement or servicing
• Maintain accurate production records and equipment setup documentation
• Perform machine setup requiring precise calculations for close-tolerance production output
• Maintain equipment in safe and efficient operating condition by working closely with the maintenance department
• Identify and support preventative maintenance routines to minimize downtime
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 6S procedures
• Visually inspect material and finished products to ensure quality standards are met
• Verify gauge, surface condition, and material quality prior to processing
 

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 1–2 years of manufacturing experience preferred, ideally within a sheet metal or metal processing environment
• Strong math skills including fractions, decimals, and basic conversion calculations required
• Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers preferred
• Ability to read and follow production specifications and work instructions
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
• Ability to safely operate material handling and lift equipment
• Ability to plan and organize work for maximum efficiency and throughput
• Strong understanding of manufacturing safety practices and quality expectations
• Ability to work independently and within a team-based manufacturing environment


PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Routinely performs duties in a manufacturing environment
• Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods during a full shift
• Must be able to lift, move, and position materials as required
• Must be able to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday
• Exposure to manufacturing conditions including heat, noise, moving equipment, and dust
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
