Description: Front Desk Receptionist

Location: Grand Rapids | Department: Administration | Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

As a Front Desk Receptionist (On-Call), you serve as the first point of contact for our organization, creating a welcoming and organized environment for visitors, volunteers, and staff. This role provides backup coverage for front desk operations and supports a positive, mission-driven experience for all who engage with Kids’ Food Basket.

What You’ll Do

· Greet visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and create a warm, inclusive first impression 

· Support a positive volunteer and guest experience through friendly interaction and clear communication 

· Maintain front desk, café, hospitality, and retail areas to ensure they are clean, stocked, and inviting 

· Monitor and manage general office email and voicemail, routing messages to appropriate team members 

· Coordinate and order supplies for shared spaces and hospitality areas 

· Assist with welcome screens, shared spaces, and other tasks to support smooth daily operations 

What You’ll  Bring

· High school diploma and at least 1 year of relevant experience (reception, customer service, or administrative support) 

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills 

· Excellent organization, attention to detail, and follow-through 

· A positive, welcoming demeanor with a strong customer service mindset 

· An assets-based perspective and ability to work effectively with diverse populations 

· Interest in learning about hunger, food access, and community impact in West Michigan
