Position Overview
The Gund Company is seeking a strategic, data-driven Materials Manager to lead inventory planning and control across North America. This is a high-impact supply chain leadership role responsible for ERP-driven materials planning, inventory optimization, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, purchasing, and site leadership. Ideal candidates bring strong manufacturing supply chain experience, ERP expertise, analytical strength, and a proven ability to drive operational performance across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities
· Serve as the global enterprise inventory planning and control process owner.
· Manage key raw material ERP data management processes (raw material part and vendor maintenance) to ensure timely updates and data integrity.
· Oversee and audit the reorder point (ROP) management process to ensure ROPs are updated within the necessary timeframes while balancing inventory and customer service levels.
· Lead the enterprise inventory-level corrective action process cross-functionally to minimize excess inventory.
· Stay current on the latest business operation optimization tools to help ensure The Gund Company remains an industry leader in customer service and cash management processes.
· Maintain and support the development of key metrics related to inventory control and planning.
· Serve as an enterprise-level resource for strategic process improvement event facilitation.
· Maintain process documentation and provide training materials that enable others to administer processes with limited direction.
Supervisor Responsibilities
The Materials Manager directly supervises 1–2 employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies, the Code of Conduct, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· 10+ years of progressive experience in materials management, inventory planning, supply chain, purchasing, or manufacturing operations.
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field.
· Strong expertise in ERP systems, materials data governance, inventory control, reorder point management, and planning process execution.
· Advanced analytical capability, including strong Microsoft Excel skills and the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive action.
· Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives in supply chain optimization, process improvement, and enterprise-scale problem solving.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence leaders, collaborate across sites, and support team development.
Preferred Qualifications
· APICS/ASCM certification such as CPIM or CSCP, Lean or Six Sigma training, and experience supporting continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Travel
· Must be able to travel 10–15% of the time, including some international travel.
