Working under general supervision, the Lube Tech Mechanic performs preventive maintenance with a primary focus on lubrication services, oil changes, and filter replacement. This position services heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty vehicles, as well as heavy and propane-powered forklifts. This role provides opportunities for training and gaining experience to progress to a higher-level mechanic position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled lubrication services on company vehicles, heavy equipment, and related assets.
- Conduct engine oil changes and replace oil, fuel, and air filters on heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty vehicles.
- Perform routine servicing and lubrication on heavy equipment.
- Service propane-powered forklifts, including oil and filter changes and basic inspections.
- Conducts preventive maintenance and safety inspections on company vehicles, heavy equipment, transfer trailers, and stationary machinery.
- Accurately and efficiently complete paperwork and or computer database entries regarding maintenance tasks, documenting usage of parts and supplies.
- Utilize Asset Essentials to generate repair orders to communicate defects or areas needing further attention.
- Perform minor cleaning of components and work areas as required.
- Operate forklifts and other yard equipment as necessary to support maintenance activities.
- Adhere strictly to company standards and policies, as well as safety standards, during all work activities.
- Follow proper safety procedures, PPE requirements, and environmental regulations when handling oils, filters, and waste materials.
- Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by supervisors or team leads.
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
- Preferably possess one year of experience performing preventive maintenance on vehicles or equipment.
- Previous experience in the waste and recycling industry is advantageous.
- Preferred experience includes working in maintenance facilities or similar environments involving vehicles and processing equipment such as balers, conveyors, hoppers, electric motors, and landfill machinery.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear. The employee must be able to lift, push, pull, unload, drag and carry from 10 to 50 pounds. The employee is often exposed to extreme heat and cold, as well as dust, noise and fumes commonly found in a shop environment.
