YOUR PURPOSE
The Business Development Manager leads and develops Horizon's Community Development efforts, directly managing Community Development representatives across our four-state footprint, enabling consistent and high-quality support to branch managers and regional retail leadership. This role also partners with community development, marketing, and retail leadership on strategy and contributes to building the frameworks and metrics that will guide the team's work going forward.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Team Development & Training
- Train, coach, and develop the Community Development Administrators on business development methodology, tools, and best practices, building consistent and effective execution across all regions
- Support the Community Development Administrators on the delivery of financial education, implementation of our robust volunteer program, and community outreach activities.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and accountability for the team; set objectives, support performance development, and ensure team members have what they need to execute business development responsibilities in their markets
Business Development
- Build and maintain relationships with employer groups, partners, associations, and centers of influence to drive membership growth and new business opportunities across Horizon's markets
- Partner with branch managers, regional retail AVPs, and the VP of Growth and Service to identify, prioritize, and support local business development initiatives; this role includes evening and weekend events as needed, with all hours tracked and compensated per Horizon's non-exempt pay practices
Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Participate in strategic planning conversations with the AVP of Community Development, VP of Marketing, and retail leadership to align BD activity with organizational goals; help define the metrics and frameworks that will guide the team's work in 2027 and beyond
- Partner with the Sales and Service Administrator on activity tracking and reporting; share results, insights, and best practices across community development, marketing, and retail teams

COMPENSATION
Full-Time
$35.01-$52.51
*This figure shown represents the minimum and maximum of the range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education and skill level.

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
- Minimum four years of business development or sales experience with a proven track record; experience in financial services or credit unions strongly preferred.
- Prior experience managing or coaching a team and building repeatable processes is required.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; all non-standard hours are tracked and compensated per Horizon's non-exempt pay policies.
- Regional travel required, scheduled in advance; reliable transportation required.
