REPORTS TO: Elementary Principal
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
MUST DO
- Assist the Elementary Principal in the daily operations of the school by embodying and modeling a healthy culture, promoting staff core values, and ensuring a positive, caring climate for learning and working.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Elementary Principal in supervising teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel, volunteers, and others as assigned.
- Help develop a restorative student discipline system and ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student growth and discipline are appropriate and result in positive student behavior.
- Conduct conferences, phone calls, emails, etc. effectively communicating with parents, students, and teachers on student and school issues.
- Help supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with administrative assistants on follow-up investigations.
- Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences of all staff as an evaluator within the teacher appraisal system.
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Work with lead teachers and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
- Help with the requisition of supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records, and verify receipts for materials.
- Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Assist the Elementary Principal in ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state laws and the Lincoln Board of Education policy.
- Lead the process of PTO requests along with time-card updates and approvals.
- Participate in professional development, corporate and self-guided, to improve skills related to job assignment and overall personal development.
- Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
- Encourage and support the development of innovative instructional programs, helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Help promote the use of technology in the teaching/learning process.
- Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from all cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate in the development of campus improvement plans with all LCS stakeholders.
- Help develop, sustain, and maximize information systems for tracking campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
- Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
- Review applications and participate in interviews for potential new staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Principal certification
- Training and experience in administration, supervision, and curriculum development at the Elementary School level preferred.
- Ability to use sound judgment and solve problems.
- Build harmonious rapport and work cooperatively with and respond rapidly and appropriately to parents, students, and staff.
- Proficient in promoting, listening, creative vision casting, and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to foster teamwork and motivate others.
- Self-motivated in all areas pertinent to the position.
- Participate in extracurricular activities as directed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs.
- Required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 40 hours per week
- 10-month contract with 10 flex workdays
- Off during school breaks
