These are the essential requirements to serve in the Curriculum Manager role:
- Master’s Degree and/or experience in Curriculum & Instruction
- Valid Multiple or Single Subject California Teaching Credential; English Learner authorization
- 8+ years of successful experience in comparable public, private, or non-profit sectors; experience with virtual/blended learning environments is preferred.
- Experience with unpacking the standards, identifying essential standards, and writing standards-based, differentiated lessons
- Experience with and/or comprehensive understanding of Understanding by Design or Backward Design.
- Experience working with blended, online, personalized, and/or virtual learning schools preferred.
- Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
- Working knowledge of research-based practices to target and increase academic performance and high proficiency in relevant technologies for online schools.
- Knowledge of best practices for instructional coaching
- Ability to successfully handle educational or behavioral issues and concerns that may arise with staff, scholars, and families.
These are the desired skills to serve in the Curriculum Manager role:
- Ability to implement California Standards for the Teaching profession and National Standards for Quality Online Learning into practice.
- Proficient to advanced knowledge and skills in productivity applications, specifically, Google Workspace (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Slides), AI applications, and project management and digital communication tools (e.g., Gmail, ParentSquare).
- Expertise in navigating Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and project management software.
- Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technology, software, and evolving laws, regulations. Policies and procedures.

Essential duties and responsibilities for the Curriculum Manager may include:
- Implements a vision of providing a personalized learning environment for all scholars in a way that is compliant with state laws personalized learning.
- Supports staff in the optimal implementation of scholar curriculum, aligning with the grade-level standards required to achieve organizational goals for scholar achievement.
- Develops and implements curriculum and grade book plan for Student Information System (SIS) set up, guidance, and monitoring.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality Tier 1 instruction aligned to grade-level standards across all content areas.
- Develops grading rubrics aligned to assessments/lessons/curricula, with specialized grading rubrics for the various English Learner levels (emerging, expanding, bridging).
- Provides support and assistance to Supervising Teachers, Instructional Coaches and Academic Leadership in the full alignment and implementation of the school’s instructional programs.
- Analyzes and applies relevant data and practices towards the continual improvement of Compass curriculum, program and practices.
- Collaborates with supervising teachers, coordinators, and other administrative staff to provide recommendations to improve scholar outcomes.
- Collaborate with and provide guidance to the Community Providers department, to ensure Core Curriculum is standards-based, and rigorous. Lead the development, creation and/or maintenance of alternative a-g course offerings, in collaboration with Academic leadership, teachers and partners.
- Provides guidance to ensure “Curriculum Locker” materials and services meet scholar needs, including availability, appropriateness and accessibility of resources.
- Serve as teacher of record on the Dual Enrollment courses for the concurrent enrollment pre-requisite courses.
- Lead and support continual LMS implementation, integration, and development, specifically regarding program and curriculum to support school vision and goals.
- Assist in annual curriculum audit including working directly with curriculum providers when needed
- Manage board approved curriculum list.
- Provide curriculum subscription recommendations, oversight, usage and roster support, and data based analysis to evaluate effectiveness.
- Independently plans division support functions, manages special projects.
- Applies and abides by state laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures..

Work Environment:
Position is based in an approved home office in the State of California. As the safety, adequacy, and functionality of the approved home office is key, approval must be provided to work from any other location with the exception of the Central Office. May be required to also work from the Central Office, Learning Center, or other Compass location as directed by supervisor or the Superintendent & CEO. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, Learning Coaches (parents), and staff. Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities. Note - you will be required to notify HR if any work will be performed in San Francisco or out of state for any period of time for review and pre-approval.
