These are the essential requirements to serve in the SST Specialist role: 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and valid California Teaching Credential (as applicable to the position requirements) with English Language Learner Authorization.
  • 2+ years of successful experience in comparable public, private, or non-profit sectors; experience with virtual/blended learning environments is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently, identify creative solutions, and handle sensitive information with strict confidentiality.
  • Exemplary written and oral skills, specifically in presenting complex compliance and management reports.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

These are the desired skills to serve in the  SST Specialist role:

  • Proficient to advanced knowledge and skills in productivity applications, specifically, Google Workspace (e.g., Docs, Sheets, Slides), AI applications, and  project management and digital communication tools (e.g., Gmail, ParentSquare) 
  • Expertise in navigating Student Information Systems (SIS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), and project management software.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and apply new technology, software, and evolving laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • High attention to detail in data collection, organization, and executing complex administrative tasks and projects
  • A collegial approach to teamwork and the ability to manage multifaceted projects simultaneously.

Example duties for the Scholar SST Specialist may include:

  • Lead and standardize the Scholar Study Team (SST) process across Compass Charter Schools to ensure consistent, high-quality intervention planning, implementation, and progress monitoring
  • Coordinate SST to Special Education and Section 504 referrals, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and documentation of appropriate interventions prior to escalation 
  • Build staff and learning coach capacity and foster family partnerships by providing training, coaching, and resources to support scholar success
  • Design and deliver professional development related to SST process, Tier 1 instruction and evidence-based intervention practices
  • Monitor academic, behavioral, and engagement interventions aligned with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) frameworks
  • Address independent study challenges (engagement, work completion, family support) through targeted, proactive intervention systems
  • Serve as a key partner in the WIT (“Whatever It Takes” scholar intervention) process to ensure alignment, consistency, and effective implementation of supports
  • Analyze scholar data, including assessments, progress monitoring, attendance/work completion, and reading risk indicators, to inform decision-making and evaluate intervention effectiveness 
  • Collaborate with staff to support and implement Reading Risk assessments
  • Administer and proctor assessments in accordance with organizational guidelines 
  • Other duties as assigned
