Position Summary

The McAuley School of Nursing at the University of Detroit Mercy invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position with a primary focus on teaching and service. This position supports the School’s mission of educating compassionate, ethical, and clinically competent nurses prepared to serve diverse populations. The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs through classroom instruction, clinical teaching, and service to the school, university, and profession. The primary clinical focus for this position is medical-surgical nursing.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Teaching:

  • Provide high-quality instruction and supervision in the classroom and clinical setting
  • Utilize evidence-based teaching strategies to support student learning and clinical judgment development
  • Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback consistent with course and program outcomes. 
  • Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation

Service:

  • Participate in department, college, and university service activities-
  • Contribute to program accreditation, assessment, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Engage in professional service activities consistent with faculty role expectations.
  • Support student advising, mentoring, and professional development as assigned.
    Other duties as assigned
Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Extensive clinical experience in medical-surgical nursing.
  • Eligibility for RN licensure in the state of Michigan – Prior teaching experience in a nursing program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) degree or certification.
  • Familiarity with simulation-based teaching and clinical judgement models.
  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

Physical Requirements

Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).


Work Environment

Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.


Salary/Pay Information

Commensurate with experience.
