Quality Inspector I
Description

This position will be on the 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.   


SUMMARY

The Quality Inspector I plays a foundational role in the Providien Thermoforming quality assurance function. Under direct supervision, this role performs visual and dimensional inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished goods to ensure conformance to engineering drawings and customer quality standards. The Quality Inspector I creates quality notifications in the ERP system, supports containment activities, maintains accurate quality records, and participates in continuous improvement and 5S activities. This role builds core inspection skills toward independent operation.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Perform visual inspection of parts and assemblies per work instructions and cosmetic acceptance criteria; identify and segregate obvious defects.

· Operate inspection equipment per standard operating procedures under supervisor or senior inspector guidance.

· Use calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges to perform dimensional checks; record all measurements accurately on inspection forms.

· Verify incoming, in-process, and final products against engineering drawings and work instructions; confirm part number, orientation, and basic dimensional conformance.

· Create quality notifications within the ERP system by providing objective evidence to support rejection data; ensure accuracy and completeness of all quality records.

· Package conforming assemblies and components and complete all associated quality paperwork in a legible and accurate manner.

· Support containment and stock sweep activities under direction; correctly segregate, tag, and quarantine suspect or nonconforming material.

· Follow all traceability procedures on production records without exception; escalate out-of-tolerance results and ambiguous defects immediately to a senior inspector.

· Participate in kaizen events and 5S activities; follow standard work and workstation organization standards consistently.

· Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all safety, PPE, LOTO, and environmental procedures and regulations.

· Contribute to team quality goals in a collaborative and supportive manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

· A high school diploma or equivalent (GED, vocational school) is required.

· Technical degree or quality certification preferred.

· Manufacturing environment experience preferred; inspection experience preferred.

· Background in medical device, molding, printed circuit boards, or electronics manufacturing preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

· ISO 9001/13485 awareness training preferred.

Language Requirements

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

· Conversational ability in any other language is a plus.

Mathematical Skills

· Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Job Skills

· Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.

· Knowledge of ERP systems; SAP preferred.

· Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 quality management standards preferred.

· Strong attention to detail; ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings, part numbers, and tolerance symbols.

· Ability to use all measurement tools required for the role: calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and height gauges.

· Demonstrates good judgment; escalates non-standard or out-of-tolerance conditions immediately.

· Ability to work under close supervision and to follow instructions precisely without shortcuts.

· Ability to be flexible and function effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing manufacturing environment.

· Reliable attendance; willingness to work additional hours on short notice to support customer and production demands.

· Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices preferred.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical requirements outlined below indicate those necessary to fulfill this position's core responsibilities. While performing job duties, the employee will regularly engage in activities such as using hands to finger, handle, or feel and communicating verbally. Additionally, the employee will frequently need to reach with hands and arms while standing and walking as part of the role. Occasional lifting and movement of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and using a ladder may be required. This position also demands specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

· ASTM F-2412-2005, ANSI Z41-1999, or ANSI Z41-1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.

· Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.

· Hearing protection in specific locations.

· Ability to comply with JSA in specific areas.

Travel is not required for this position.


SALARY INFORMATION

According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $18 and $22 hourly/annually. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline. When extending an offer, Providien Thermoforming considers various factors such as the position's responsibilities, scope of work, candidate's work experience, education/training, essential skills, internal pay equity, and market considerations.
