We are growing! We have an opportunity for you to join the C.A. Ferolie team as a Category Insights Manager at our Montvale, New Jersey office! 



Overview of the Role 

As the Category Insights Manager, you will create and maintain value-added category management tools that will guide sales and business managers to achieve volume and distribution objectives for all retailers and channels. They will provide the analytics and insights needed to optimize pricing, promotion, distribution, displays, and shelf placement that grow sales. Working with the CA Ferolie Client and Customer Sales teams, this position will play a key role in providing actionable insights into market and customer-level performance.
 

What You Will Do 

  • Synthesize category knowledge, client insight, and customer understanding into a cohesive approach for category & business reviews and selling stories driven by AMPS (Assortment, Merchandising, Pricing, and Shelving) 
  • Perform as strategic category management consultant and engage directly with clients on business building opportunities, including use of executive summaries to reinforce thought leadership.
  • Create, maintain, and perfect analytical tools, reporting, and resources leveraged against the client.
  • Improve reporting methodology to analyze, identify whitespace, and quantify opportunity gaps.
  • Track, monitor, and provide actionable feedback on ACV/distribution, sales trends, & shelf management.
  • Utilize disparate data sources including syndicated data, panel, and secondary research to develop insight-based analysis and business reviews.
  • Conduct promotional planning support via in-depth retailer-specific analysis.
  • Develop best-in-class and retailer-specific merchandising recommendations in tandem with Sales. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and communication strategy, best practices internally and externally. 
  • Work jointly with sales and business managers, and become the category expert for our clients.
  • Establish professional and frequent lines of communication with clients, supervisors, associates, and customers, and elevate issues and opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Participate in training and development programs to improve communication, organization, analytical, presentation, and negotiation skills. 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; five or more years of CPG industry sales and category management experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and associates.
  • Must know basic arithmetic operations to accurately calculate budgets, net sales, margins, promotional percentages, discounts, and commissions. Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts to sales velocity ratios, days of supply, pallet configurations, sales forecasting, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Possess critical thinking skills such as analysis, evaluation, and synthesis, as well as abstract thinking, creative thinking, information processing, and problem-solving. Ability to prioritize workload and set goals.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a clean DMV report.
