Description
POSITION SUMMARY
A Warehouse Cleaning & Labor Assistant is responsible for assisting all day-to-day warehouse operations upkeep, maintaining swept and clear work areas, cleaned of debris, removing pallets and providing inventory stock for the fabricators and crafts persons. The position also includes general maintenance of utilities and equipment as directed by the Purchasing Manager and Warehouse Foreman. The Warehouse Cleaning and Labor Assistant may also be required to courier materials to and from the shop in a safe and secure manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for keeping shop area swept and clear of debris and sawdust.
- Removing unused pallets and wood and returning them to proper storage areas.
- Responsible for keeping inventory of liquid beverages provided to the employees in the shop area.
- Perform general maintenance on warehouse equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining and servicing specific equipment such as basic plumbing, compressors, facilities equipment, powered tools.
- Assist warehouse manager in all necessary operations including prepping for shipments, coordination of packaging and warehouse storage, including truck loading and unloading.
- Actively participate in repairing and communication safety hazards.
- Must be able to follow verbal instructions.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS TO BE CONSIDERED
- Some schooling; high school education desirable.
- Experience in warehousing and material handling, preferred.
- Maintains an active role in both the warehouse and shop space but is exposed to non-conditioned warehouse spaces.
- Excellent communication skills for internal and external customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical stamina. These workers must be able to endure long periods in awkward positions while bending, stooping, or standing.
- Physical strength. Must be able to lift heavy pieces of metal and move equipment.
