Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacy operations and ensure accurate, efficient medication processing. This role works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and plays a critical part in maintaining workflow, patient safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications accurately and efficiently
- Receive and process prescription orders, including data entry and verification
- Measure, count, label, and package medications in accordance with established procedures
- Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and monitoring expiration dates
- Handle prescription insurance claims and resolve billing issues as needed
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Provide customer service by answering basic medication and pharmacy-related inquiries
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and staff to clarify prescriptions when necessary
- Support medication reconciliation and documentation processes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic computer and data entry skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT)
- Prior pharmacy or healthcare experience preferably in retail.
