Position Summary:
The Special Education Paraprofessional is a qualified instructional support professional who serves in a Catholic K–8 school under the direction of the principal, assistant principal, and licensed teacher(s). This part-time 1:1 role is responsible for supporting a single student with significant learning, behavioral, or developmental needs within the general education classroom using a push-in model. The paraprofessional works closely with the homeroom teacher and special education team to review lesson plans in advance, implement accommodations and modifications, and provide individualized academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support aligned with the student’s Individualized Catholic Learning Plan (ICLP). The paraprofessional is expected to support student access to learning while fostering independence, dignity, and full participation in a faith-filled, inclusive classroom environment consistent with Catholic values.
Essential Job Functions (Responsibilities):
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to an assigned student in the general education classroom
- Review lesson plans in advance with the homeroom teacher and prepare appropriate modifications and accommodations
- Implement instructional supports aligned with the student’s ICLP
- Facilitate access to grade-level instruction using multisensory strategies and individualized scaffolding
- Support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of the assigned student
- Collect, record, and communicate student data related to progress, behavior, and interventions as directed
- Collaborate regularly with the student's family, classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
- Maintain confidentiality of all student information and school matters
- Support classroom organization, instructional materials, and clerical tasks as needed
- Encourage appropriate classroom behavior, independence, and positive peer interactions
- Ensure student safety and provide continuous supervision throughout the school day
- Participate in school-wide duties or coverage as assigned
- Attend Archdiocese of Denver and school-based professional development and training sessions
- Maintain punctuality and a consistent Monday–Friday schedule
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration or supervising teacher

Competencies, Qualifications, and Requirements:
- Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041–2043)
- Refrain from any conduct or lifestyle that would cause scandal or contradict Catholic doctrine or morals
- Minimum of a high school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience working with children in an educational or support setting preferred
- Experience supporting students with special needs strongly preferred
- Basic proficiency with educational technology and digital platforms required
- Strong organizational and task management skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Archdiocese of Denver training and Safe Environment certification
- Must meet all employment requirements for a Catholic school setting
Physical Requirements:
- Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
Hours:
- Required workdays are Mondays through Fridays.
