Reading Interventionist
Description

St. John the Baptist Catholic School seeks a skilled and mission-driven Reading Interventionist to support students in developing strong foundational literacy skills. This role provides targeted, evidence-based reading instruction to small groups and individual students, helping ensure all learners grow toward proficiency. The Reading Interventionist plays a vital role in advancing our commitment to academic excellence and forming students in both mind and heart within a Christ-centered environment.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements (for posting)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field 
  • Valid Colorado teaching license (or ability to obtain) 
  • READ Act training or willingness to obtain within the required timeline 
  • Experience delivering small-group or individualized literacy instruction 
  • Knowledge of foundational literacy (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, comprehension) 
  • Ability to assess and monitor student progress using data 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Reading, Literacy, or related field 
  • Reading endorsement 
  • Training in structured literacy (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Science of Reading) 
  • Experience supporting students with reading deficiencies or READ plans 

Required Conditions of Employment

  • Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background check (CBI) 
  • Compliance with all Archdiocesan and school policies 
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education 

Functional Requirements

  • Ability to deliver targeted intervention independently 
  • Ability to analyze literacy data and adjust instruction 
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and communicate student progress

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move throughout the school day 
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds 
  • Ability to assist students with mobility or physical needs, if required 
  • Ability to supervise students in indoor and outdoor environments

Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
