Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable Fleet Technician to support all Homemakers delivery trucks, service vans, warehouse forklifts, and material handling equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring all vehicles and equipment are reliable, compliant, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventative Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform scheduled oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and DEF refills on trucks and vans and forklifts
• Conduct regular brakes, tires, suspension, steering, lighting, and battery inspections
• Complete lift gate lubrication, safety checks, and minor hydraulic/electrical repairs
• Inspect and service truck boxes, seals, roll-up doors, and swing doors
• Perform minor welding, cable replacements, and roller adjustments as needed
• Maintain service intervals and records for trucks and vans using fleet management software within Samsara
• Keep stock of truck inventory parts
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on warehouse equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks
• Inspect hydraulic systems, batteries, chargers, forks, mast components, and safety systems on material handling equipment
• Coordinate service and repairs with vendors for warehouse equipment when needed
Education and Experience:
• 2+ years’ experience as one or more of the following diesel mechanic, automotive technician, or fleet service technician
(preferred)
• Basic knowledge of computers
• Punctual, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance schedules for medium-duty trucks, vans, LP and electric forklifts
• Experience with lift gates, truck boxes, basic electrical/hydraulic systems, and warehouse equipment such as forklifts and
reach trucks (preferred)
• Ability to diagnose and perform minor to moderate repairs in-house
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications:
• Shuttle trucks and vans to/from Housby or other vendors for major repairs
• Keep detailed maintenance logs for compliance and scheduling purposes
• Communicate proactively with managers on vehicle and equipment downtime and priorities
• Maintain and support warehouse equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation across all departments
Optional:
• Travel to Tiffin or Urbandale to support other technicians or cover absences
Physical Expectations
• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing
• Maneuvering equipment and products weighing up to 150 lbs.
• Comfortable working at varying heights
Working Conditions
• Full-time, 40 hours/week
• Monday–Friday schedule; occasional weekend work if urgent fleet needs arise. It could be Tuesday-Saturday as well.
