Position Summary

The High School Geometry Teacher delivers rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned geometry instruction. This role builds students' conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, mathematical reasoning, and problem-

solving skills. It also supports student achievement through thoughtful lesson planning, data-informed instruction, a structured classroom culture, and strong collaboration with school leaders, colleagues, and

families.


This position includes Geometry and may include related math courses or intervention services based on

campus needs. The successful candidate must maintain high academic expectations, provide equitable

access to instruction for diverse learners, and uphold professional standards for student supervision,

confidentiality, and school operations.


Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily instruction aligned to the Louisiana Student Standards for Mathematics, including high school Geometry content and mathematical practices.
  • Design lessons, assignments, and assessments that promote reasoning, proof, modeling, communication, and application of geometric concepts.
  • Use formative and summative data to monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and adjust instruction to improve achievement.
  • Differentiate instruction and implement assigned accommodations, modifications, and intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, progress records, and other required instructional documentation.
  • Create and maintain a safe, orderly, respectful, and academically focused classroom environment that supports student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with administrators, counselors, special population support staff, and colleagues to support student success and consistent implementation of campus expectations.
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding academic progress, classroom expectations, and student support needs.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties, transitions, arrival, dismissal, testing, and other school activities.
  • Use school technology systems, learning platforms, and communication tools effectively.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the High School Principal or designee.
Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated content knowledge in secondary mathematics, including geometry.
  • Meets at least one Louisiana-approved credentialing pathway for service in a nonpublic school setting: 
  1. holds a valid Louisiana teaching certificate appropriate to the assignment; or
  2. meets Louisiana nonpublic school instructional staff requirements for the assignment, including a bachelor's degree, a major or equivalent coursework in the teaching area, and required professional education coursework or documented progress toward that coursework; or
  3. is eligible to obtain the Louisiana authorization or temporary credential required for the assignment, including a teaching authorization and, if needed, an appropriate math credential.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required employment clearances, including fingerprint-based criminal history review, DCFS State Central Registry clearance as applicable, and any additional state-mandated eligibility checks.
  • Ability to complete required onboarding and annual compliance trainings.
  • Strong instructional planning, classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid Louisiana certification in secondary mathematics, including Geometry or related endorsement areas.
  • Prior successful teaching experience at the high school level.
  • At least 30 credit hours in mathematics, a graduate degree in mathematics or a related field, and/or a passing score on the Praxis Secondary Mathematics content exam.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English preferred, including the ability to support instruction and communicate effectively in a multilingual school environment.
  • Experience supporting multilingual students and students with documented accommodations.
  • Experience using curriculum-aligned assessments and student data to strengthen instruction.

  • The selected candidate must meet all Louisiana nonpublic school employment, credentialing, and eligibility requirements for the position.
  • The selected candidate must complete required onboarding, annual compliance training, mandatory reporter training, and any other training required for the role.
  • The selected candidate must follow school policies and all required workplace, privacy, and student protection standards.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, speak, hear, and actively supervise students throughout the workday.
  • Ability to move through classrooms, hallways, stairwells, and other campus spaces and to respond appropriately in routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to use a computer, projector, telephone, document camera, and standard classroom and office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials and classroom supplies consistent with the needs of the role.
