Summary:
The Gun and Archery Technician is a hybrid role responsible for the installation, setup,
and repair of airguns, crossbows, and related accessories. This position focuses on
providing high-quality technical services that differentiate Pyramyd AIR in the industry,
including precision Zero-In; services and specialized 24-hour leak testing. The
technician also plays a critical role in mitigating customer returns by diagnosing and
resolving technical issues in-house.
Essential Duties:
- Archery Services: Perform precision compound bow and crossbow setups,including timing cams, cam swaps, and paper tuning.
- Airgun Technical Support: Conduct & quote; 10-for-$10 20-for-$20 performance tests, PCP tunes, and advanced 24-hour leak testing to ensure product integrity before shipment.
- Custom Installations: Install and adjust scopes, peep sights, D-loops, rests, and other high-end accessories for customers.
- Repairs; Refurbishing: Diagnose and execute both warranty and non-warranty repairs; refurbish returned items for Q Check; resale to maintain high inventory turnover.
- Return Mitigation: Proactively identify and fix minor defects (e.g., O-ring repl.) to prevent costly customer returns and improve brand satisfaction
- Operational Excellence: Utilize specialized equipment, such as automatic draw boards, to streamline high-volume orders and ensure service accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Mechanically inclined; Gunsmith experience 1+ years of prior
- Experience in the outdoor, airgun, firearm, or archery industry is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; additional technical training or Gunsmith Certification (e.g., Sonoran Desert Institute) is a significant plus.
- Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, and lift heavy weights (up to 50 pounds or greater); must possess hand coordination and finger dexterity required for small-parts assembly.
