Experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) – Valleydale / Birmingham, Alabama

Ally Psychiatry is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing outpatient behavioral health team in the Valleydale area of Birmingham.

This is a full-time outpatient PMHNP opportunity offering a Monday–Friday schedule, strong physician collaboration, structured clinical support, and excellent work-life balance within a clinician-led psychiatry practice.

Candidates must have a minimum of one year of PMHNP experience practicing in Alabama and an active DEA license at the time of hire.

PMHNP Position Highlights

  • Full-time outpatient psychiatry position 
  • Monday–Friday clinic schedule (no inpatient duties) 
  • Light call rotation approximately one weekend per month 
  • Established outpatient psychiatry practice in the Birmingham metro 
  • Collaborative team environment with psychiatrists, therapists, and clinical staff 
  • Direct supervision and support from experienced psychiatric physicians 
  • Strong administrative, billing, and scheduling infrastructure

PMHNP Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments 
  • Provide medication management and ongoing outpatient psychiatric care 
  • Develop individualized treatment plans for mental health conditions 
  • Treat a broad range of adult psychiatric and behavioral health conditions 
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and multidisciplinary teams 
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation 
  • Participate in shared weekend call rotation (light coverage)

Qualifications

  • Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) 
  • Minimum of 1 year PMHNP experience practicing in Alabama required 
  • Active Alabama APRN license required 
  • Active DEA license required at start date 
  • Strong clinical judgment and medication management skills 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
