Description
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Groundskeeper is responsible for caring for the fields and lawns around campus. Assisting with general maintenance duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Grounds Maintenance: Maintains grounds in a clean and orderly manner, including mowing, trimming, weeding, aerating, and fertilizing lawns;
- operates grounds maintenance equipment;
- replaces plants as needed;
- sets sprinklers; replaces broken sprinkler heads;
- trims tree branches that create hazardous situations.
- Painting lines on fields
- Trash pickup
- Spring and Fall clean-up (leaf removal and brush clearing)
- Snow Removal (paths, stairs, walkways, parking areas)
- Assist with rink management, including driving the Zamboni, closing the rink, and ensuring the rink is in safe operational condition.
- Be available as needed for all school events and functions, including but not limited to: Orientation Weekend, Family Weekend, Alumni Weekend, and Commencement.
- Move/assist with moving furniture and equipment on campus
- Set up/break down of campus equipment
- Assist with the orderliness and cleanliness of the Pinckney Boathouse basement
- Assist with the cleanliness of the general waterfront activities area (mooring field, lagoon, beach)
- Assist with seasonal opening and securing of the waterfront with athletics and summer program staff
- Assist with other general maintenance duties, including painting tasks; minor plumbing and carpentry work repairs and treats structures such as floors, showers, sinks, walls, roofs, and carpets; performs minor troubleshooting; repairs door hinges; cleans plugged key slots; reports mechanical malfunctions to the appropriate party for action; moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various buildings.

Responsible for duty assignment on a rotating schedule with other employees, and the employee is required to respond to all calls.
The job is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position.

Requirements
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Must possess a valid driver's license and can pass a background and motor vehicle check
- Proof of personal automobile liability insurance
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable working at heights and/or on ladders
- Flexible work schedule, including day, evening, and weekend shifts, as scheduled
- Ability to work in outside weather conditions
