POSITION SUMMARY:
The Interventionist position at Laramie Montessori Charter School supports the development of the whole child by providing targeted academic intervention for students who benefit from additional support in literacy and/or mathematics. This role works within an authentic Montessori environment to deliver individualized and small-group instruction while honoring each child’s unique developmental path. The Interventionist collaborates with classroom guides, specialists, and families to monitor progress, strengthen foundational skills, and promote student confidence, independence, and success.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Interventionist:
- Plans and provides targeted, research-informed intervention for individual students and small groups based on identified academic needs.
- Supports student growth through Montessori-aligned practices while integrating Wyoming standards and evidence-based intervention strategies.
- Collaborates with classroom guides, special education staff, and school leadership to align interventions with classroom learning and student support plans.
- Uses assessment tools, progress monitoring, and student data to identify needs, track growth, and adjust instruction.
- Maintains accurate records of student progress and communicates effectively with staff and families.
- Personalizes instruction to meet diverse student needs while honoring developmental readiness, student dignity, and intrinsic motivation.
- Fosters a prepared environment that supports concentration, engagement, and academic growth.
- Supports equitable access to learning for all students regardless of background, ability, or identity.
- Promotes positive student behavior and restorative practices aligned with Montessori philosophy and school-wide expectations.
- Participates in Student Intervention Team (SIT), Student Assistance Team (SAT), and MTSS processes as needed.
- Demonstrates professionalism through ethical conduct, confidentiality, collaboration, and timely completion of responsibilities.
- Participates in professional growth opportunities, including Montessori-informed literacy and intervention training.
- Upholds the mission, policies, and procedures of Laramie Montessori Charter School and Albany County School District #1.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong understanding of elementary literacy and/or math intervention practices
- Knowledge of child development and differentiated instruction
- Ability to support students within a Montessori philosophy while integrating intervention requirements
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Skill in using assessment data to guide instruction
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage schedules, documentation, and multiple student needs

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board certification with Elementary Education endorsement required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in elementary intervention, Title I, literacy, or math support
- Montessori experience or willingness to learn Montessori philosophy and practices
- Master’s Degree preferred
- Experience with progress monitoring systems such as Fast Bridge or similar tools preferred
