Summary:  

The Recreation Student Assistant plays a key role in supporting the Keuka College Recreation Program. This position is ideal for students who are enthusiastic about sports, outdoors, and fitness. The position is perfect for those who enjoy working in a team environment and are looking to gain hands-on experience in recreation management, event planning, and student leadership.


Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the supervision, setup, operation, and breakdown of intramural and adventure events.
  • Enforce rules and regulations, ensuring safety and fair play in intramurals and fitness locations.
  • Conduct risk assessments to help maintain a safe recreational environment.
  • Support participant registration and help with recruitment at recreational events.
  • May contribute to:
  1. Officiating games and managing score/timekeeping
  2. Staff supervision, training, and scheduling
  3. Inventory management and equipment tracking
  4. Marketing and promotion via social media, flyers, photography, and video
  5. Beach supervision, gym supervision, and off-campus event supervision
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude, representing Keuka College positively.
  • Attend training and meetings as required.
  • Protect student privacy in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled as a traditional undergraduate student at Keuka College.
  2. Reliable, on-time, and capable of working independently and within a team.
  3. Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  4. Familiarity with various sports; intramural experience is a plus.
  5. High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  6. Comfortable working with diverse groups and under pressure.


  

Physical & Scheduling Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, up to 30 lbs. occasionally.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • May be required to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
