TITLE: Commercial Loan Associate
DEPARTMENT: Credit Administration
JOB SUMMARY:
The Commercial Loan Associate is primarily responsible for preparing commercial loan documents (select markets), maintaining loan files and other servicing responsibilities associated with the bank’s commercial and/or consumer loan portfolio, while complying with credit policy and regulatory guidance. This position will work closely with commercial compliance issues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist in applying due diligence in compliance with loan policy and approved structure for each credit in regard to the preparation of commercial loan documentation and make necessary disbursements.
- Record and release all types of collateral documents.
- Assist with clearing loan exceptions/ticklers.
- Effectively communicate with and assist officers, employees, clients and local professionals with any questions or research they may request to satisfy their clients’ needs.
- Assist with a wide range of servicing duties related to loan and depository relationships.
- Maintain knowledge of company policies and procedures as well as internal audit procedures, legal regulations, and requirements.
- May prepare documents accurately for new and renewal loan closings.
- Create and maintain accurate commercial loan files and properly execute imaging procedures.
- Ensure proper recording of liens, prepare mortgage releases in satisfaction of loans, abstracting, and mortgage filing.
- Review files after closing to ensure that all documents are signed and checks prepared for disbursement, advance loans, send payoffs, pay invoices and other post close duties.
- Adhere to regulations for commercial loan compliance, HMDA (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act), Flood Determination guidelines, Bank loan policy and procedures and all lending regulations.
- Verify posted loans from the previous day for accuracy and completeness.
- Verify corporate and trust documents for proper signing authorities.
- Review insurance certificates for conformance with bank requirements for new loans, modifications and/or renewals.
- Obtain payoff information as necessary.
- Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries from commercial loan clients regarding various loan requests or forward inquiries to the party best able to respond to the clients.
- Provide prompt, courteous, and excellent service to internal and external clients.
- Comply with all company or regulatory policies, procedures and requirements applicable to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance or other related field preferred.
- A minimum of two years operations or personal banking knowledge or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Previous loan experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate financial information effectively to a wide range of clients and audiences.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to detail.
- Capability to work and collaborate with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and professional manner.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Capability to utilize various banking software and Microsoft 365 products, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service skills including the capability to establish rapport with clients.
- Capability to manage sensitive information and uphold confidentiality.
- Strong problem solving and conflict resolution capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Duties are performed in a professional office environment.
- May require travel.
