The Senior Director of North American Sales will lead our retail sales strategy and drive revenue growth across all retailers, including Mass, Pet Specialty, Amazon and Distributors. This senior-level role requires a strategic leader who can scale our retail operations, build high-performing sales teams, and optimize performance across all North American retailers. The role combines strategic leadership with operational excellence to build world-class sales organizations and drive sustainable business growth.
OPERATIONAL Duties
· Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies aligned with company growth objectives and revenue targets.
· Lead strategic planning and execution for sales across major marketplaces including Mass, Pet Specialty, Independents, Distributors, and emerging opportunities.
· Build and optimize overall strategy and operations across traditional platforms, assuring team implements said goals
· Establish organizational framework for to best manage retailer promotions, programs and seasonal opportunities to assure consistent measurements are applied by all
· Establish organizational standards and consistent application of sales materials, presentation strategies and retail offerings to support goals
· Regularly communicate market and product trends to support product strategy, promotional needs as well as overall industry developments
· Collaborate with C-suite and cross-functional teams including product, supply chain, marketing and finance to align sales initiatives with business goals.
· Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure success across all retailers and provide regular performance updates to executive leadership.
· Lead budget allocation and ROI optimization across all retailers to assure desired profits are maintained. Work to assure pricing is aligned at all times
· Create meaningful sales reporting and assure sales team understands and responds in timely fashion
· Create and launch standardize line-review approach and method to maximize productivity of each set. Train sales team to proactively engage in strategy throughout year
MANAGERIAL Duties
· Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales team with goal of creating best in class sales professionals.
· Recruit top talent, establishing and monitoring clear performance metrics for each team member.
· Working closely with direct reports, create professional development paths for team members.
· Direct pricing strategy and inventory optimization initiatives to maximize profitability across all retailers. Assure team monitors and enforces MAPP policies
· Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the sales organization.
· Develop measurement systems to track all inhouse and retailer marketing effectiveness.
· Working through team, champion retailer relationships to build lasting partnerships and strengthen cooperation
· Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Economics, or related field required;
· 10+ years experience in sales management with demonstrated revenue growth results.
· Senior leadership roles managing teams of 10+ people with proven ability to build and scale sales organizations.
· Proven track record of success with across all types of retailers
· Extensive background in building and using reports to enhance performance and achieve sales goals
· Expert-level knowledge line review analysis and promotional effectiveness.
· Strong analytical skills with experience in Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar BI tools for data-driven decision making.
· Familiar with Walmart, Target, Chewy and other key retailer in-house metrics and reporting
· Experience in consumer goods, retail, or related industries preferred, including deep understanding of MAPP implementation
· Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills with ability to influence at executive level.
· Excellent communication and presentation abilities for C-suite and board-level reporting.
· International marketplace experience preferred.
· Experience with brand management and product launches a plus.
