Position Overview

Providence Englewood Charter School is seeking a compassionate, student-centered, and collaborative School Licensed Social Worker to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral success of students during the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate is committed to educational equity, restorative practices, and building strong relationships with students, families, and staff within a dynamic charter school environment.

The School Social Worker will provide direct and indirect social work services to students, collaborate with school teams and families, assist with intervention planning, and help ensure compliance with special education and student support services.


Essential Responsibilities

Student Support Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling services to students 
  • Support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, and academic challenges 
  • Conduct social developmental studies and contribute to evaluations and re-evaluations 
  • Develop and implement behavioral and intervention strategies for students 
  • Assist in crisis intervention and conflict resolution when necessary 
  • Support student attendance initiatives and family engagement efforts 
  • Connect students and families with community-based resources and services 

Special Education & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Participate as an active member of IEP and 504 teams 
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, service logs, and case notes 
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local special education regulations 
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support student accommodations and interventions 
  • Assist with Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed 

School & Family Collaboration Responsibilities

  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff 
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and support services 
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, counselors, and outside agencies to support student success 
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school initiatives 
  • Promote a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture

Requirements

 Qualifications

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement required 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field preferred 
  • Experience working in urban schools or charter school environments preferred 
  • Knowledge of MTSS, restorative practices, trauma-informed care, and special education processes preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, families, and community partners
