Key Responsibilities
1. Investigate and lead activities for the next generation of calibration technology
2. Develop, implement & facilitate process improvements that keep Hartzell at the forefront of efficiency
3. Locate, clean, inspect and calibrate gauges to ensure compliance with quality standards & specifications
4. Coordinate and maintain schedules for third-party calibration services to ensure all equipment remains current and certified
5. Prepare, document, and send gauges and equipment for outside calibration and track their status through completion
6. Maintain and update the calibration schedule and related records to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance
Examples of Typical Job Activities
- Verifies accuracy of gauges and measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, fixed gauges, height gauges, and electrical and functional gauges, using master gauges or master parts.
- Examines gauges or measuring instruments for wear or adjustment and ensures repair is completed.
- Verifies dimensions of gauges against blue print specifications, using gauge blocks, micrometer, height gauge, sine bar and optical comparator.
- Reassembles gauges and adjusts stops and levels to specified settings.
- Inspects accuracy and enters into calibration system new gauges and instruments before they are released for production use.
- Maintains gauge calibration program records
- Writes purchase orders for new or replace instruments.
- Writes purchase orders to obtain vendors for repairs or calibration not done at the Company.
- Communicates with co-workers and manage to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
Required Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; Gauge calibration & Inspection experience is required
Required Technical Skills
- Must be able to effectively use close tolerance gauges
- Perform gauge calibrations according to written procedures, drawings, or standards
- Write and/or revise procedures for calibration of gauges
- Use GageTrak system for calibration records, standards, measurements and procedures
- Provide support to process operators to help resolve non-conformance issues as they relate to metrology
- Train operators and inspectors on the use of gauges and gauging standards on the shop floor
- Communicate with team members and management when “out of tolerance” conditions exist
- Learns the Quality System, Quality Manual, and AS9100 requirements
