Job Summary
The Yard Laborer is a vital member of the operations team, responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and professional environment at our Berthoud facility. This role focuses on the upkeep of the yard, the cleanliness of our specialized pump truck fleet, and providing general support to the maintenance and dispatch teams.
Responsibilities
- Fleet Maintenance & Cleaning: Thoroughly wash and degrease pump trucks, ensuring equipment is free of debris and presents a professional image.
- Yard Organization: Maintain a clean and hazard-free yard. This includes sweeping, organizing materials, and managing waste disposal.
- Inventory Support: Assist in loading and unloading parts, supplies, and equipment for field crews and mechanics.
- Facility Upkeep: Perform minor facilities maintenance tasks as needed (e.g., snow removal, basic landscaping, or shop cleaning).
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations regarding wastewater and chemical usage.
- General Support: Execute various tasks and "hot projects" as assigned by the Field Manager or Fleet Mechanic to keep operations running smoothly.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience
- Hardworking & Reliable: Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)
- Attention to Detail: Pride in ensuring trucks and equipment are cleaned to company standards.
- Team Player: A positive attitude and the willingness to jump in where help is needed.
- Safety Minded: Constant awareness of surroundings in a high-traffic yard with heavy machinery.
- Experience: Prior experience in a construction yard, car wash, or industrial setting is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge
- Familiarity with construction safety work rules.
- Customer service mindset

Physical Demands
- Must be able to meet DOT requirements for hearing and seeing.
- Must be able to verbally communicate to others.
- Good manual dexterity to climb on and around the pump in all weather conditions common to the area of the country.
- Must be able to push and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the balance and dexterity to maneuver around a construction site, and must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be drug and alcohol free.

Working Conditions and Additional Requirements
This job operates in a shop environment and on construction sites. Hours fluctuate based on demands of business. Travel to other shops within the company and job sites may be required. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. This position routinely requires use of company vehicles on company business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Employees in this position will be subject to pre-employment and random Motor Vehicle Record and alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment. Regularly works while standing, climbing, and bending in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. Works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, controlled chemical odors or airborne particles, with risk of vibration and possible exposure to cement (which could cause skin irritation). The noise level is moderate, but can fluctuate. Personal protective equipment required for daily use: safety glasses, hard hat, ear plugs, work boots, and gloves.
