Concept Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer. This position is part of a team of Information Technology (IT) professionals supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Command, Control, and Communications (C3) o?ce. C3 is responsible for ensuring FAA managers have daily situational awareness and continuity of communications in an emergency. If disruptions such as national emergencies, natural disasters, or equipment malfunctions occur, the C3 o?ce is chartered with restoring the communication services expeditiously. This position is located on site in Washington, DC. Once fully trained, some telework may be offered.
Position Overview
The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for designing, modernizing, securing, and sustaining highly available enterprise network environments supporting critical government operations. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise networking, infrastructure modernization, security compliance, and incident resolution across complex multi-site environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Serves as a senior technical advisor and subject matter expert for enterprise network engineering initiatives.
- Serves as a senior technical authority for the design, development, and implementation of enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, MAN, and hybrid network environments.
- Leads engineering efforts for the expansion, optimization, and modernization of enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and associated security devices.
- Evaluates emerging technologies and develops strategic recommendations to improve scalability, resiliency, and performance of mission-critical networks.
- Supports enterprise architecture planning, including segmentation strategies, high availability design, and integration of cloud and on-premises environments.
- Analyze and assess equipment and performance degradation, to include packet analysis, determination of hardware, software, networking and/or other technical changes necessary to verify restoration of service and meet operational requirements.
- Responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex enterprise network failures impacting mission-critical systems, updating documentation and making written recommendations to prevent problems from recurring
- Continuously monitoring the network and proactively making recommendations to improve performance while resolving and/or preventing potential problems
- Verify the posture of the LAN and all equipment to ensure it complies with the configuration management and security requirements in accordance with OMB A-130, FISMA, and NIST 800 series along with other Federal mandates.
- Support research and feasibility, possible build out, usage and maintenance of a test environment for the use in support the LAN and application operations.
- Provides technical direction, mentoring, and coaching to network engineering staff and junior personnel.
- Leads complex, time-sensitive network engineering projects, coordinating with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external partners to achieve mission objectives.
- Provides technical input to leadership regarding network strategy, risk, and investment priorities.
- Perform system administrator duties on an as needed basis
- Perform other duties as assigned
- This position may require you to be periodically on call – after duty hours
- Occasional travel may be required depending on mission requirements, within the DC, Maryland, Virginia area.
- Cisco experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
- Eight additional years of experience can substitute for a relevant degree
- Leadership and management skills in the context of network engineering
- Eligible for a Secret Clearance
Desired Technical Experience
- Building and/or migrating/upgrading firewalls and switches across LAN and WAN configurations.
- Maintaining build documents, network drawings, and data flow diagrams
- Implementing OMB-A 130, FISMA, and NIST related federal security standards in production environments
- Knowledge of configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting VPNs, VLANs, firewalls, load balancers (F5), network monitoring tools, and tunnels
- Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCNP
- Strong experience with:
o Cisco, Juniper or equivalent networking platforms
o TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, MPLS, ISIS, L2VPN
o Network security technologies including firewalls, CyberArk and STIG
Monitoring technologies such as Riverbed, SolarWinds, and catalyst center
Preferred Qualifications
- An active Secret Clearance
- ISP Network Design
- Juniper experience
- Juniper Certifications: JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCI
- MS Project experience

Compensation: $140K to $160K
