Description
We are seeking a strong professional to join our team as Director of Nursing for our facility. The Director of Nursing is responsible for managing, leading and directing care and services to clients in the Nursing Department under the supervision of the Medical Director. The DON works as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team including doctors, clinicians and support staff to maintain a positive and therapeutic environment, leading to successful treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for all nursing staff, including RNs, LPNs, and support personnel
- Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Assures medication and treatments are properly administered to patients.
- Assesses for accuracy and proper documentation.
- Supervise and assist in responding to patient, support staff, corporate, DCF, or Joint Commission concerns.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff
- Monitor staffing levels and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage
- Participate in quality assurance, infection control, and performance improvement initiatives
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff and provide guidance on complex cases
- Fosters teamwork and a positive, professional atmosphere.
- Reviews and maintains knowledge of Florida nursing regulations.
- Ability to lead and develop solutions in a changing environment with an ability to implement concepts for advancing teamwork and accountability.
- Participate in regular scheduled case reviews.
- Participate in agency team meetings as needed.
- Ensures all required State licensing is current and renews as needed.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or closely related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in behavioral health, detox, or substance use treatment
- Must maintain professional growth through continuing education, adherence to professional ethical standards and integrity in nursing practice.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, internal staff, the Department of Children and Families, and the Joint Commission.
- CPR certification
- Experience with regulatory compliance and accreditation standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to lead with empathy, professionalism, and accountability
- Experience with Microsoft Office products to include Word and Excel.

Salary:
- $80,000–$90,000 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience
