Monroe Capital is seeking a Real Estate Senior Associate/AVP in its New York, NY office to assist in the underwriting, due diligence, closing and asset management of real estate credit investments. Monroe originates and/or acquires senior mortgages, B-notes, mezzanine loans and preferred equity in value-add and special situation commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States (and select international locations). Monroe has flexible capital and can invest in all real estate asset types (including land, construction, etc.) up and down the capital structure for the appropriate risk-adjusted return. Monroe targets an average deal size of between $50 million to $300 million.
Job Responsibilities
The Real Estate Senior Associate/AVP will work closely with senior members of the real estate team to:
- Review and underwrite new real estate credit transactions
- Create and maintain excel models to perform real estate credit, cash flow and valuation analyses
- Prepare initial deal screens and full investment committee presentations
- Perform market research and other legal diligence including review of credit agreements, leases, contracts, etc.
- Engage with third-party diligence providers
- Assist with quarterly valuation, fund reporting and investor requests
- Support senior members of the team with term sheet construction
- Assist with portfolio asset management
- Maintain real estate deal pipeline
- Other ad hoc analyses and/or presentations as needed
The Real Estate Associate will have the following qualifications/attributes:
- 4-year degree from a top university/college
- Minimum of 4-8 years of relevant experience in real estate, investment banking and/or finance
- Strong understanding of real estate credit analysis including quantitative analysis
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and Powerpoint (including strong modeling skills)
- Ability to leverage artificial intelligence for research, presentations/content creation and data analysis
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player, ability to work independently, strong integrity/ethics, attention to detail, ownership mentality
- Desire to assist with occasional non-real estate opportunistic credit transactions based on staffing needs
Physical Requirements
- Stationary Work: Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer work, phone communication, and administrative tasks.
- Movement: Occasionally moves about the office to access files, supplies, meeting rooms, or other work areas.
- Reaching/Positioning: Occasionally positions self to access shelves, organize materials, or retrieve office supplies.
- Computer and Equipment Use: Regularly operates a computer and other standard office productivity equipment (e.g., phone, printer, copier).
- Communication: Able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and through electronic methods as required to perform essential job duties.

Compensation
It is expected that the base salary range for this position will be $125,000-180,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as skills, experience, and qualifications for the role. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial and / or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as vacation, sick time and parental leave) dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, the employee will be in an ‘at-will position’ and the Firm reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time including for reasons related to individual performance, Firm or individual department/team performance and market factors.
