Job Title: Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) General Laborer
Reports to: Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager
Job Purpose
Safely and productively move, sort, aggregate, prepare and stage recyclable materials as directed
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as a team with others in a safe, helpful, productive, accountable and respectful manner
- Efficiently complete all activities delegated by the MRF Manager
- Sort recyclables as they move along a moving conveyor
- Clean-up of work area and property
- Move recycling bins/carts
- Move and stage e-waste, appliances and mattresses for transport
- Shred documents, operate can blower and shrink wrapping e-waste
- Safely operate, load and unload material with a forklift and/or a skid steer
- Insures material quality meets vendor specifications
- Familiar with facility safety and operating policies
- Other duties as assigned from time to time

- As requested, available to work occasional overtime including weekends
Qualifications
Specialized knowledge: Safety protocols and recycling Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Laborer
Skills: Compliant with all safety policies; ability to use facility machinery; and team player
Abilities: Physically fit with ability to lift and carry heavy loads; being on-time, good housekeeping and safety.
Experience: Good employment history as a laborer
Certification: Must pass in-house fork-lift certification before operating forklift of skid steer
Working Environment
The work environment is primarily under-roof in a climate that can be cold, hot, dusty, loud and smell.
Physical Requirements
The majority of time is spent standing in one place, manually separating recyclables from other materials/waste at a very fast pace with good dexterity. Ability to walk stairs; work on uneven surfaces; lift 50 pounds; use fine motor skills picking and tossing materials at a face pace; picking debris from the floor doing and moving heavy objects such as mattresses and appliances
